RIAB Announces New Advisory Board Featuring Pioneers in Journalism, Art and Social Change
Board of Advisors:
Alfonso Gumucio Dagron – Bolivian filmmaker, journalist, and specialist in communication for social change. He is widely recognized for his work advocating for participatory communication. He has served as a communications officer for UNICEF and UNESCO. His most influential academic works include Making Waves: Participatory Communication for Social Change and the Communication for Social Change Anthology.
Elias Toledo – A prominent figure in the Swiss community radio scene, primarily known for his leadership roles at Radio LoRa.
Layal Nasr – Journalist and news anchor at Sawt Al Shaab radio station and Al Sharq Radio in Lebanon.
Milovan D. Marković – Serbian visual artist. Visiting Professor of Art in Context at the University of Arts in Berlin.
Khaldoun H. Shami – Journalist and documentary/radio producer, known for extensive work on refugee initiatives across Lebanon, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has led teams developing community‑radio projects throughout the SWANA region. Visiting Professor at the University of N’Djaména.
Nadia Taha – Sudanese journalist, producer, and human rights advocate known for her extensive reporting on the Darfur conflict. She was the first female reporter at the Sudan Radio Service SRS, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Zaitoun Caravan – Radio in a Box (RIAB) is a non-profit community radio run by a group of volunteers. was founded in 2000.
